Biography

Michael Lim is the Festival Director of Animation Nation, Singapore’s longest-running and most influential animation film festival under the Singapore Film Society, and an award-winning filmmaker. With over 20 years in the film and creative industries, he has been a tireless champion for independent voices and emerging talent across Southeast Asia. Under his leadership, Animation Nation has become a premier platform for global animated works and cross-cultural industry exchange. Michael has collaborated with leading studios including Pixar, DreamWorks, and Aardman, and curated programs featuring Oscar-winning filmmakers and pioneering Asian animators. He is a regular speaker at international festivals, and serves as a juror and mentor for industry competitions and labs. His unique blend of creative vision and strategic insight makes him a sought-after leader in the animation field. In 2024, he was honoured as one of the Top 25 Exceptional Leaders in Animation by DIGITALCONFEX for his contributions to the industry.
